Life Offers Few Do-Overs: How to Have A Good Travel Agent Take Over Handling Your Direct Cruise Booking

Have you ever wished you could have a “do-over?” Perhaps just a “wish I’d taken that other route to work today” or some bigger, life-altering decisions?

We’ve helped many travelers have a do-over. And I’m going to tell you how you, too, can have a do-over if you need one.

If  you are working hard to plan your vacation…. it’s time to let a professional with experience help.

These clients booked direct with a cruise line and later realized that they would benefit by an agency taking over the details. Their reasons are varied:

  • They are spending too much time on their reservation. Deanne said, “If I wanted to be a travel agent, I’d be a travel agent. But I have a full-time job and this is YOUR job. I need an expert.”
  • They want someone who is unbiased. As I explained to Bill, “Cruise line agents know their products and are paid to sell those products. Whether their hotel, airport transfers, shore excursions and insurance are the best options specifically for you doesn’t come into play.
  • They want to look forward to their trip. Brenda wanted their “vacation to be a vacation.” She felt that tracking details and making decisions without guidance were work that was keeping her from looking forward to their trip with the excitement that she was seeing the rest of her family enjoy.
  • They don’t want to risk their vacation investment. Frank started booking a $30,000 cruise for his family when he was researching online. He called a river cruise company and spoke with an agent who got him to book and deposit on three cabins. Soon after, he contacted us. He said he “has a doctor to keep us healthy, has an attorney for legal matters and a financial advisor who understands the market better than (he does).” He wanted a travel professional to handle his investment and vacation.
  • They are tired of hearing “no.” The cruise line “Vacation Planner” doesn’t check for lower prices to possibly renegotiate your rate. They don’t check to see if your preferred cabin location now has an opening. They don’t work on the best option for your family to do a mini-group excursion together, put together a special family event the ship or offer to communicate with everyone so you don’t have to constantly be the go-between. Dee came to us because she was tired of hearing “no.”

Change the frustration or concern around by hiring a cruise specializing travel agent to handle your arrangements.

Because of our longevity in the industry, skills earned by experience and education, contacts we’ve accrued, industry associations, industry publications and penchant for creativity, travelers who don’t truly enjoy getting knee-deep in planning their trips (and we respect that some people do enjoy it) —- it’s likely that you’ll feel relieved when we take over.
